Anti-Snoring Appliances

Anti-snoring appliances are available from us and the custom fitting is simple and painless.  On your first appointment we will discuss your sleeping habits and will refer you to a specialist, if necessary.

There are various types of appliances available, which are similar to the one pictured below.  Anti-snoring devices fit in the same manner as a sports mouth guard but will hold the mouth slightly open and will hold the lower jaw in a forward position.  Snoring is caused by weak muscle tissue closing the pharyngeal airway.  The anti-snoring device enables the air passage to remain open and helps to keep the weak muscle tissue clear of the pharyngeal airway.

To fabricate the appliance it is necessary to take upper and lower impressions of your teeth along with a bite relationship.  This occurs in one appointment.  The next appointment will be the delivery of your custom made appliance and any necessary adjustments will take place at that time.  Once you have used the appliance for a few nights you will be asked to return for any further adjustments and we will check your results.
